What do parents, children, social media, television, coworkers, billboards, and bumper stickers all have in common? They all, at various times, believe that they can tell us what we need to do to be happier, more fulfilled, more productive, and more chill…in short, they attempt to instill us with their own brand of ‘wisdom’.
Now, there are times when an extra shot of earthly wisdom can speak to us. If only for amusement. But, honestly, most of that input could be considered noise that we could do without. Godly wisdom, and Godly counsel, on the other hand, we need daily. And nightly.
Psalm 16:7 says:
I bless the LORD who gives me counsel;
in the night also my heart instructs me.
Psalm 16 is a Psalm of David and is a Psalm of faith. David is telling us in no uncertain terms that if we rely on God if we look to His word, we will find the wisdom, the instruction, that we need to keep us on the path that God has set out before us.
As a result of the finished work of Christ on the cross have the advantage of the Holy Spirit sealed inside of us to help us understand the Word of God. We have the very wisdom of God at our disposal! We just need to tap into it.
